Amster-DAM good trip!

Amster-DAM good trip!

I’m BACK!

I have been awol for the last 2 weeks, trying to get myself back into my third year of University. My god, am I stressed already!… This is 100% going to be the most stressful year of my degree by far, so writing this post is allowing me to not think about it for a while!

This post is full of a few more things that we got up to on our trip to Amsterdam, just to give you a few ideas if you ever fancy going yourself and are stuck for ideas.

Pluk

So to kick start our second day we visited Pluk, which was one of the places that my cousin said I should visit as she loved their Instagram!

(Some of the bloomin lovely cakes they make fresh everyday!)

They had such an amazing selection of cakes, and some of them were also Vegan so they cater for everyone! I could have eaten all of these cakes but I wanted to save myself for a nice breakfast I was just about to stuff myself with, haha.

(A view from the upstairs)

Pluk was such an Instagrammable place, I could not stop taking photos! I must have looked like such a typical girl… It was quite difficult to get a table we had to sit at the last one left right in the corner, which admit-tingly was a squeeze to get in to, and that was before I had eaten! We were lucky to get a seat as the weather was horrible and everyone was coming in to get out of the rain. In the photo above you can also see below the mirrors they had their own collection of mugs, books, and homeware which I thought was quite cool. I was tempted but I definitely did not need anymore mugs.

(The Pluk berry smoothie)

This smoothie was the perfect thing to have in the morning to give you that boost for the day! It was all pre-made the night before and then stored in the fridge, as Harry said he saw them with massive jugs full of it. So it must have been a popular one!

(Pluks Menu)

I thought I would take a photo of the menu so that you could have a look yourself and see all the lovely stuff that they had.

(our delicious food)

I had the Grilled Chicken with Avocado, Tomato, Herb Oil, Lettuce and Curry Mayonaise. It was so tasty, an odd choice for 11 o’clock in the morning but I just had to have it. Anything that says curry in is a winner with me! Harry went for the pancakes with the fresh fruit and then the chocolate sauce. Although, it looked amazing he said it would have been better with sugar instead of the sauce it was a bit too sickly.

After breakfast at Pluk, we had another wonder around the streets near the canals to see what we could find, Amsterdam is definitely one of those places you could walk around for ages and not get bored of the sites.

The Sex Museum

(The Sex Museum)

Due to the weather being a bit rubbish on the second day we decided to visit the Sex Museum one of the places that people alway’s rave about when it comes to Amsterdam.

Although, it was an experience and a bit odd.. It wasn’t anything special and I am not sure I would recommend to anyone else. I think people go for a photo like what I had haha and that is it! It only cost €5 though so it is worth going in if it is raining.

Lucy’s

After that slightly strange experience, we went to Lucy’s which was a cafe for coffee’s and cheesecakes. Which I have to say did do one of the best cheesecakes I have had in a while. It was all very pink which obviously I liked haha.

Although, the places was very pink and pretty, it did need to improve the coffee that they did as it was quite watery, so would recommend going there for a cheesecake but maybe dodge the coffee.

We had to have a nap after this as I think the walking had tired us out…

When we had finally woken up, we went to a stroll to see if we could find anywhere for dinner in the evening, and for some reason we alway’s ended up on the red light district which looked so different in the daytime.

I am not 100% sure what the building above is called but it was some kind of cathedral, and at night it was all lit up red as it was in the red light district. It was cool to look at but a little bit creepy as well.

This was one of the streets off the red light district. It fascinated me that the buildings looked like they were in the water? Weird to think that if someone walked out of their door they would fall into the canal haha. I would be a bit scared to live there…

The Last Day

Our last day came around far too quick and it was a little depressing waking up knowing that we had to come home later that evening. However, we still wanted to make sure that we made the most of the day! The weather was a lot better on the last day which is typical but we were still happy.

Lavinia

We had our breakfast at Lavinia, this was a place that I found on Instagram not long after waking up that morning.

It had the cutest interior and was quite quirky inside. I love visiting places like this as I love taking photos as you can tell! It was relaxing in there and a nice atmosphere, a little out of the way but once you find it, it is worth visiting. Even if just for a coffee stop.

(Our breakfast, Cinnamon Oats and Banana Pancakes)

The breakfast was lovely but very filling so it worth the money as it will last you most part of the day.

(The toilets)

I had to take a photo of them as I just thought they looked cool, they were definitely the best toilets I had seen on my visit there haha.

Also, how cute were the mugs of latte, I would literally love some of these at home. As the sun was coming out we carried on with our stroll around the streets of Amsterdam, it was lovely just to chill out on the last day as we had already done most of the things we had said we wanted to do whilst there. So the last day was spent taking photos of me with doors that matched my outfit haha. Joking obviously though, that is not all we did…

Amsterdam was absolutely full of bikes like these, I took a photo of this one because it is my favourite colour!

Polaberry

We then visited one of the places that I was dying to visit and buy a unicorn cake stick! I think they just had the cutest interior and if you check their Instagram out it is truly amazing. We had to wait until 12 o’clock though for it to open and then another half an hour as they didn’t have the cake sticks ready yet…

But I finally got one and it was definitely worth it for the photo! I was so happy with this one. Weirdly, this cake stick looked like a magnum and it tasted like a magnum… CRAZY I know but I am not lying. Promise!

One of the places that Harry said we had to visit was…

Van Stapele

If you think you have had the best cookies, I can tell you that you haven’t.

They only did one flavour cookie and that was chocolate with white chocolate inside, as we bought them fresh they literally melted in your mouth it was amazing. Such a good shout from Harry! I won’t give him too much credit though haha. They are quite expensive but so worth it.

Our trip to Amsterdam was slowly drawing to an end and our flight home was getting closer…

We had one last wonder around to take in all the sights and then made our way back to the hotel to get our bags.

As you can tell our trip to Amsterdam consisted of a lot of eating, eating and eating… We had such an amazing time. Even if we were only there for 3 days we fit a lot into them, and I think that my two blog posts show this.

I will definitely be going back to Amsterdam, there is still so much more to see!

Phoebe Clare
