Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook are just a few of the social media platforms that have consumed our lives since they landed. So much has changed and I think it is so good to just sometimes have a break from it and come back down to earth! I don’t think I am far off when I say, that when the convo goes dead we look for Snapchat or Instagram for a little bit of help.
I just wanted to share with you some of the reasons I had a week off and a break from looking at others posts, and how it did help me.
I had a week away with my Mum and Dad where I thought it would do me some good to have a break from looking at what everyone else is doing and just enjoy the moment and what I am doing. Sometimes I find myself getting so engrossed in Instagram and what others are posting, about an hour later and I have sat on my bum looking at photos of things that are so irrelevant. Sometimes we find ourselves living for the Instagrams or the Snapchats and miss the actual moment, which I think is really sad… We feel like we should be sharing our moments in life with everyone which I think in comparison to how it used to be before social media there is such a difference.
When I was away I still posted the odd photo of what I was doing, to prevent from spamming everyone when I got home. I just wasn’t looking at my phone constantly at others posts. I think sometimes Instagram can be a complete curse for girls, as you alway’s see all the skinny girls that are considered ‘perfect’ and this is not ideal for people to be looking at when they are body conscious. Anyway, most of the photos we are shown are just giving us a distorted view of reality, and that is not healthy. If you feel this way I completely recommend going on a social media break. I am not saying that social media is not a good thing, because don’t get me wrong I bloomin love it.
However, everyone should have a break from social media just to give yourself some perspective and get back to normal… RECALIBRATE YOURSELF!
