Worry Less, Stress Less

I know myself that I am an absolute stress head! I think people can underestimate how stressful uni life can be, and yes I do have work life ahead of me and need to get over it…. but I’ll have that breakdown when it comes to it, haha.

Sometimes I just get myself into a mindset of not wanting to do any work and just wanting to blob out for the whole day, and these days are good but this does not help when you have multiple deadlines and you are a worrier.

When it comes to a deadline, I alway’s seem to worry about it when it still ages away until it is due. In reality stressing has never made me get it done any quicker and has never made me do any better in the long run so really there was no point in the first place.

Whenever things get a bit too much, I have learnt to let myself take breaks! I mean I have become a professional at this now and give myself too many breaks. Going away for me is the best way of turning your brain off for a weekend and just being stress free.

If you are a stresser and worrier like me then, just give yourself a break and cut your brain some slack. In the long run stressing won’t make your life any better and will not change the future, so why do it! Also, stress can destroy your brain and then the report or essay you have to get done definitely will not be your best. Throughout, education I have learnt that it is best for my mindset to start a task when it is given to me as I need time to process it and work out how much time I have to complete it. If I don’t do this my mind just turns to mush and I do everything I can to put it off… Hugging the dog is a top trick of mine to put off something that I should be doing.

Stress has been proven to make us age quicker! So my god if that is not a reason to stop then I don’t know what is, haha!

I always try to remind myself of the nice things that I have planned or holidays I have booked to get me through! If you don’t have one book a nice meal or something with your friends! I find that having something to look forward to and take your mind off things is always a good way to take your mind off stress.

When you feel a bit overwhelmed and you can’t think properly what harm can a cup of tea and 2 maybe 10 digestives do just to get your mind back on track. This alway’s helps me when I need to get my thoughts back into an essay or anything really.

Friends! They are alway’s a good point of call when you need to chill out and forget about things for a while, people who you can have a cocktail with and have a night off.

If we spent all our time focusing on things that in the long-term really don’t matter we will miss out and not enjoy what is happening now! Preach I know, haha.

And, Yes this blog post has allowed me to procrastinate and not write my dissertation but I am going to go make myself a cup of tea and ignore it for a bit longer, because why not…! oooops!

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed the post,

Great advice, and while it feels “easier said than done” at times, it’s really not! There’s a whole life ahead, plenty of time to get things done!
