Brighton Adventure: Part 1

Brighton Adventure: Part 1

Welcome to Part 1 of my Adventure to Brighton

After a fabulous weekend getaway to Brighton with my cousin, I was so excited to write this blog post and tell you all the things that we got up to. Brighton is such an upbeat place and everyone is so lovely. Just a pre warning this post is going to be full of my photos, a lot of them consisting of food…

I have decided to do two parts to this post as we did a lot of things and walked 10 miles a day so putting everything into one post would take forever to read.

I booked our accommodation on AirBnb, and found this idyllic place just a couple streets from the lanes, altogether it cost us £149 for the weekend for both of us. This are some photos of the little street we were on and it was so colourful and cute.

As you can see my favourite little house was the turquoise coloured one, as I had most of my photos at this place. In the Airbnb we got a private room with an on-suite however, the host was not there for the weekend so she said we had access to the whole of the house. It was so clean and really modern, and all of the artwork she had on the walls I thought were really cool and quirky.

After we had settled into the little house, we decided that it would be wrong for us not to have a stroll around the area and end up at the pier for an ice cream. The weather was amazing and it made the weekend even more enjoyable. We started off at the lanes as they were so close to our house.

The lanes are such a lovely place, and all of the shops that I saw I just wanted to go in and buy everything. Also, as my cousin is moving into her new flat soon we had a look in the shops with the homeware, and they had such delicate little plate sets, however they were very expensive. This was just one of the shops that I loved.

After we had wondered through the lanes we made it to the beach which was lush. It was so nice to just see the sea and not have to worry about anything, I alway’s feel automatically more relaxed when I am on the beach, especially with such lovely weather.

There was not a cloud in the sky so we got a ice cream from the Pier, and went to sit on the beach. Unfortunately, I had only had my ice cream for about 2 minutes before a seagull came and dipped his beak into it… The beach was full of people and there was such a buzz wherever you went!

After we enjoyed our ice creams that were demolished in about 5 minutes, we decided to walk back to the house but on the way I think it would have been rude to not stop for a gin and tonic. We stopped off at ‘The Pond’, which was a cute little local pub, they only had a grapefruit flavoured gin so that was the one that we had. It was so refreshing and was definitely what we needed after a long journey. We needed to get back sharpish as we had our dinner booked.

Next was our dinner at ‘Giggling Squid’ a Thai restaurant…

We had the best starter, which was Duck Spring Rolls and Satay Chicken, which were insaneeeee. They were so tasty and just the perfect amount for a starter. They also do Thai tapas at this place but that is only available at lunch time so we didn’t make it in time for that.

For dinner we had a Massaman Curry with sticky rice, recommendation from my trusty friend Liv. It is “a Muslim style curry from Southern Thailand, it’s made with coconut milk and dry spices such as cumin, cinnamon and star anise”. When I read that on the menu I just had to have it. Probably one of the best curry’s that I have had.

We started the day off with one of the Restaurants we were desperate to try, SIX.

The Menu was so full of yummy food, it was difficult to make the decision, and the interior was so fresh and modern.

Me and Charlotte have very similar tastes when it comes to food, and somehow we alway’s end up going for the same things on the menu. So we decided to go for the ‘Avocado Treat’.

That just looks like the perfect brunch dish doesn’t it?… It was smashed avocado, poached egg, halloumi all on a crispy slice of sourdough. It was the right amount as well, just enough to fill my tummy for the day. To go on the side as we wanted to try something else we had the Granola bowl which was also lovely with fresh fruit and crunchy granola. The juice was a 42 juice and it was so tasty. The one we chose was the ‘I am Sweet’ – Cucumber, pineapple, mint and apple, it was so refreshing and just what you need to accompany a brunch dish.

I can safely say that it was the best brunch that I have had and I recommend it to anyone as SIX accommodate everyone on their menu and their location is fab and only a street away from the beach.

IMG_3228.JPGWe then carried the day on and went to the ‘Foodies Festival’, but I will save that for Part 2 with many of the other things that we did. I hope you enjoyed reading about the first part of my little adventure. All of these places I recommend highly and at none of them was disappointed. Writing this post made me sad that I am not still on the beach living it up in the sun, but I am so grateful that I was able to have the experience. I am definitely going back soon!

Look out for Part 2 coming soon…
